PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kerry Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Waro Lesten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Waro Lesten will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Waro Lesten!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Viktor Lagutenko and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lesten misses the body punch

so Larson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Lesten is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Larson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Larson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Larson stands up over Lesten, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Larson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Larson cracks Lesten with a big right hand but Lesten just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Larson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Larson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Lesten tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Larson gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Larson scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Lesten is looking for a way out.
Larson lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Larson.
Larson is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

No joy there for Lesten, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Lesten rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Larson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Larson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lesten.

Larson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lesten pulls his leg out and moves away.
