PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michal Wlazly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dominik Bylicki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Bylicki's choice of entrance music: Warriors - Imagine Dragons. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Michal Wlazly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dominik Bylicki!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Paul Tew and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bylicki wants to clinch up but Wlazly keeps it at a distance.

Wlazly looking to score a takedown here. Bylicki is defending well but Wlazly drives through and ends up in Bylicki's guard.

Wlazly stands and steps away. Bylicki gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Bylicki misses with a body shot.

Wlazly takes the fight into the clinch.

Wlazly ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Wlazly no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Wlazly has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Bylicki has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Bylicki looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Wlazly tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Bylicki avoids it.

Bylicki breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Bylicki pushes Wlazly off looking to stand but Wlazly dives back in and keeps control.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Wlazly is trying to control. Bylicki wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bylicki blocking the ground and pound attempt from Wlazly.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Bylicki keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bylicki tries to clinch up but Wlazly circles away and keeps his distance.
Bylicki thows a leg kick but Wlazly checks it
and Wlazly counters with a series of strikes. Bylicki will be more careful next time no doubt.

Wlazly moves into range and clinches up with Bylicki.
Bylicki tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Bylicki has had enough of the clinch but Wlazly keeps him there for the moment.
Bylicki misses with a shot to the kidneys.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wlazly tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Wlazly breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nice defenses there by Wlazly.
Bylicki throws a half hearted mid kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bylicki tries to clinch there but Wlazly circles away.
As Bylicki tries to get set, Wlazly tries to push him back and clinch up but Bylicki manages to avoid the attempt.
Bylicki with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Wlazly darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Bylicki wants to get back to full guard.
Well, if Wlazly is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Wlazly is trying to work for a kimura but Bylicki is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wlazly content to control rather than advance.

Bylicki wants to get back to his feet.
Wlazly thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bylicki's head.
Bylicki is trying to stand up here but Wlazly is controlling him well.
Wlazly frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Wlazly wants to control the pace but Bylicki is squirming around nicely.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Poor strikes thrown by Wlazly there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Wlazly can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bylicki is looking to escape.
Wlazly prevents Bylicki from getting the reversal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bylicki is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
BOOM! Wlazly connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Bylicki is breathing heavily.
Wlazly with shots to the head and body - Bylicki looks very uncomfortable down there.
Bylicki is squirming around, avoiding Wlazly's attempts to control the action.

Bylicki is desperately trying to improve his position but Wlazly has a good base and remains in mount.
Bylicki is trying to reverse the position but instead Wlazly has taken his back - oops!
Wlazly struggling to land strikes to the head as Bylicki covers up.

Wlazly throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
Bylicki looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Wlazly is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Michal Wlazly overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Wlazly somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

Wlazly is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Bylicki is defending well though. Wlazly let's go of the attempt for now.

No luck for Bylicki with that takedown attempt.

Wlazly closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Wlazly is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bylicki has escaped the position, nice work there.

Wlazly remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Wlazly tries to counter by clinching up but Bylicki breaks away and moves out of range.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Dominik Bylicki has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Wlazly jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Bylicki keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michal Wlazly. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Michal Wlazly.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wlazly, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
