Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jaeq Lauzou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Djavan Ferreira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Djavan Ferreira told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lauzou throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Ferreira.
Ferreira shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Lauzou looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Lauzou fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ferreira manages to avoid it.
Ferreira tries to clinch but Lauzou moves out of range.
Ferreira will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ferreira keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ferreira avoids the head kick by Lauzou.
Lauzou lands with an uppercut that bounces Ferreira off the cage and back into rage.
Horrible takedown by Ferreira or perhaps it was just good defense by Lauzou which made him look bad.

Ferreira tries to control but Lauzou manages to take his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Ferreira shoots in and bounces Lauzou off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lauzou pulls Ferreira in close to his closed guard and prevents Ferreira from doing any damage or advancing position.

Lauzou is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jaeq Lauzou just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Lauzou swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ferreira uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Lauzou has time to react.

Lauzou lands a left and a right that sends Ferreira crashing to the canvas! Lauzou dives into mount looking to finish!

Lauzou misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Lauzou's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Lauzou lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Ferreira sprawling to the canvas. Lauzou follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Ferreira hang on?
