Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brent Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Long (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brent Perry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jake Long!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Long closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Long lands in his opponent's guard.
Long looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Perry holds on and takes a little breather.
Perry tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Perry wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Long wants to control from the top but Perry keeps moving.
Perry is pulling down on Long's head. It's preventing any offense from Long, at least for the moment.
Long works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Long controlling the pace.
Long wants to take a breather but Perry is having none of it.

Long is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Perry defends it well.
Long is looking to advance position but Perry won't allow it.
Long is thwarting Perry's attempts to control the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Perry is concentrating on defense, preventing Long from advancing position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Perry has his takedown stuffed
letting Long counter with a right hand.
Perry will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
And Long tries to counter it with a takedown but Perry pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Long shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Long was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Perry is looking to reverse the position.
Perry can't do much from the bottom here.

Long is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Perry has escaped the position, nice work there.

Long is trying to get an arm triangle but Perry is defending well.

Long working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Perry is trying to improve his position.
Perry could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
You can see the frustration on Perry's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Perry is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Long is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Perry is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Long is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Perry has escaped the position, nice work there.
Perry tries to bench press Long off him but Long keeps the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Long is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Perry knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Long dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nice sprawl there from Perry as Long shoots in.
Long shoots for a takedown but Perry saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Brent Perry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Perry feints and as Long raises his hands in defense, Perry changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Perry postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Perry seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Long working for submissions but it's allowed Perry to get to half guard.

Long wants to control but Perry is keeping busy.

Long tries to get to full guard but Perry has control of the leg.
Long wants to control but Perry is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Perry wants to stand up but Long has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Perry stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Perry is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Long checks a leg kick nicely.
And Long tries to counter it with a takedown but Perry pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Perry gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Long to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Perry lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Long escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Perry gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Long is breathing heavily.
Perry is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Perry throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Jake Long has got the better of the ground game so far.

Long is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Perry is fighting to break Long's control of his arms but Long is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Perry distracts Long with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Long utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Long has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Perry missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Perry postures up and lands a big shot to Long's brow.
Long is trying to keep Perry in close.

Long looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Long has his foot on Perry's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Perry works his way back into a safe position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Perry shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Perry gets to his feet - Long follows without any prompting.
Long uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Perry.
Long closes the distance and clinches up with Perry, looking for a takedown. Long pushes Perry against the cage but Perry circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Long throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Perry's waist but Perry gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Long off to one side.

Perry has taken the fight to the clinch.
Perry tries to land knees in the clinch but Long avoids the damage to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Long is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Perry to keep the fight standing.

Long on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Perry stalling against the cage.

Perry breaks the clinch.
Long steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Perry.
Perry looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Long is fending him off so far but Perry persists. Nope, Long circles away and we're back to standing.
Long with the counter takedown but Perry avoids it easily.
Long shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Perry is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Long has his takedown stuffed
and Perry counters with a stiff right hand.
Long takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Perry drives through and clinches with Long against the cage.
Perry is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Long tightens his grip and picks Perry up, before dumping him to the ground. Perry manages to land in guard.
Perry managing to control the position.
Perry throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Perry has control of Long's left arm, preventing Long from doing any damage.
Perry wants to stand up but Long is controlling him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Long stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Perry swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Perry is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Long wants to control from the top but Perry keeps moving.
Perry pulls Long in close to prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Long sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Perry's guard.

Perry is refusing to be controlled, as Long sits in half guard.
