PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dr Dex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dr Lex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Ron Honeybunn and Bruno Hogan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dex darts in and clinches Lex up against the cage.

Lex escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dex swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Dex shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lex as he avoids it easily.
Dex fails to land the takedown.
Lex unleashes a big counter combination but Dex bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Lex fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Lex rushes Dex and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Lex tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dex smiles and moves away.
Dex shoots in and drives through. Lex sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dr Dex. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Dex counters with a one-two to the body.
Dex shoots in for a takedown but Lex shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Lex connects with a leg kick. Dex looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Lex tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dex swivels and escapes.

Lex throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dex works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dex accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Dex passes Lex's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Lex looks like he's trying to stand up.
Dex perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lex looks like he's trying to stand up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Lex wants to get back to full guard but Dex has passed into side control.
Dex throws a strike aimed at the side of Lex's head but Lex avoids it well.

Dex decides to take the fight back to the feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dex shoots for a double leg takedown but Lex sprawls well. He's pushed Dex's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Dex shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lex as he jumps to the side.
Lex tries to counter by closing the distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lex stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lex wants it to stay on the feet.

Lex tries for a takedown but Dex sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lex looks to score with a jab to the body but Dex is just out of range.

Dex shoots in looking for a takedown but Lex manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dex's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Dex looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lex is one step ahead there.

Dr Lex showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
