PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luis Gracia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kemba Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracia kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Cucurucucu Paloma. The key to victory for Luis Gracia has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Luis Gracia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kemba Walker!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracia tries to clinch up but Walker circles away and keeps his distance.
Gracia swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Nice takedown defense from Gracia. No joy for Walker on that attempt.
Gracia tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Walker manages to circle out of the way.
Walker has his takedown stuffed
and Gracia cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like Kemba Walker has been cut.
Gracia tries to clinch but Walker is having none of it.
Walker walks into a straight right hand from Gracia.
Gracia is looking to clinch.
Walker checks the leg kick nicely there.
The fight stays on the outside here - Gracia looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gracia is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gracia is looking to stand up but Walker isn't so interested in that idea.

Gracia had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Walker defends it easily.

Gracia has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Walker can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Walker is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Gracia wants to get back to his feet but Walker is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Walker drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Gracia defends it well.
Gracia tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Walker was well out of range. Poor timing from Gracia.

Gracia tries to close the distance and clinch but Walker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gracia is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.

And Walker tries to counter it with a takedown but Gracia pushes his down on his head and steps out.

That was a close round but I would say that Luis Gracia will probably get the nod.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Gracia is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Walker is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Walker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracia. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Walker is working for a kimura but Gracia is defending it quite comfortably.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Walker shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gracia defends it nicely.

Gracia fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Walker manages to avoid it.

Walker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kemba Walker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Walker has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
