And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ivan Kovalenko!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Eddie Farnsworth and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kovalenko closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mcknight circles away.
Mcknight is looking to clinch but Kovalenko is avoiding it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kovalenko.
Nice sprawl there from Mcknight as Kovalenko shoots in.
Dirk Mcknight has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ivan Kovalenko.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kovalenko.

Mcknight dives in and scores a takedown into Kovalenko's guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kovalenko can't do much from the bottom here.

The ground and pound from Mcknight seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Mcknight has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kovalenko is looking to regain half guard here but Mcknight keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Mcknight could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Mcknight closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mcknight lands in his opponent's guard.

Kovalenko has Mcknight up against the cage in a clinch.
Kovalenko blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Mcknight is trying to break the clinch but Kovalenko is controlling him.
Mcknight trying to land knees to the body.
Mcknight is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kovalenko can do to turn this around?
Mcknight wants to take the fight to the mat but Kovalenko manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Ivan Kovalenko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kovalenko throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mcknight's waist but Mcknight gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kovalenko off to one side.
Kovalenko stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kovalenko wants it to stay on the feet.
Dirk Mcknight is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kovalenko throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mcknight counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Kovalenko takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mcknight tries to clinch but Kovalenko is having none of it.

Kovalenko pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mcknight looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Kovalenko turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kovalenko manages to end up in side control.
Kovalenko tries to advance to mount but can't.
Mcknight wants to control but Kovalenko postures up.
Kovalenko fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Kovalenko cracks Mcknight with a big elbow.
Mcknight tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kovalenko wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Mcknight regains half guard.
Kovalenko trying to control the action but Mcknight is working from the bottom.
Mcknight wants to improve his position but Kovalenko is controlling well.

Well, if Kovalenko is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Mcknight gets back to full guard.

Mcknight has his feet on Kovalenko's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Mcknight defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kovalenko.

I would just about give that final round to Ivan Kovalenko.
I think Kovalenko has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
