PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sebastian Nixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Sebastian Nixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Anthony Stone!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone fails with a takedown attempt.
It looked like Nixon was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Stone.

Nixon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Stone, pushing him back against the cage.

Stone has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Nixon is trying to keep an underhook but Stone manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Stone missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Nixon trying to get back to full guard but Stone takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stone wants to finish this one by submission but Nixon is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Stone.
Nixon bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Stone is trying to control the position but Nixon postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nixon keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Stone's head.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Stone is pulling down on Nixon's head. It's preventing any offense from Nixon, at least for the moment.
Nixon is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Stone shoots in and bounces Nixon off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Nixon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Stone is working away from the top position though.

Stone shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Nixon counters with a nice body shot.
Stone misses with a low kick.

A looping hook to the body misses from Stone. Nixon does a little dance to reset his feet.
Nixon changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Stone is looking to clinch but Nixon is avoiding it.

Anthony Stone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stone takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

A quick step to the side and Nixon tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Anthony Stone is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Stone gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Nixon to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Stone is looking to stand up but Nixon isn't so interested in that idea.

Stone controls Nixon momentarily but Nixon frees himself.
Nixon trying to control the position from guard on top but Stone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Stone not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Stone misses with a leg kick.
Nixon stuffs the takedown.
Nixon is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Stone shoots in looking for a takedown but Nixon manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Stone's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Nixon counters with a nice body shot.
Stone shoots in looking for a takedown. Nixon tries to sprawl out of it but Stone keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nixon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Nixon tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Nixon is trying to force a seperation but Stone has the dominant position.
Nixon fails to pull guard.
Nixon tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Stone just stands there and leans against the cage.
Stone tries to pull guard but Nixon forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Nixon lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Stone had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nixon defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Nixon moves into the clinch.
Nixon tries to land knees in the clinch but Stone avoids the damage to the body.
Stone jumps guard but Nixon stands there with Stone around his waist. Stone gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Nixon just misses with a elbow thrown towards Stone's brow.

Nixon has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Stone uses from the top position.
Stone wants to pass the guard but Nixon is keeping the position.

Nixon isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Stone stacks Nixon on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Stone!

Nixon is just holding on here. Stone manages to take his back.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Nixon wants to get back to his feet.

Stone lands a shot to the body.
Stone trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Nixon doesn't escape.
Nixon is keeping busy.
Anthony Stone has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nixon is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Nixon won't enjoy being in this position. Stone looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Nixon is tapping - it's over boys! Stone picks up the submission victory!
