And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Noburo Kobayashi!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia scores with a shot to the body.

Kobayashi is looking for a sweep.

Maia is looking to take a break and control but Kobayashi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kobayashi moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Kobayashi is looking for a triangle but Maia pushes his legs off easily.

Kobayashi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Maia gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Maia cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Maia is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Kobayashi has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Maia changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Maia looks to land a combination but Kobayashi avoids it well.
Kobayashi tries for a takedown but Maia circles away easily
and Maia counters with a left and a right that stings Kobayashi.
Kobayashi is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Maia.
Kobayashi closes the distance looking to clinch
and Maia cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Maia counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Kobayashi walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Kobayashi is breathing heavily.
Kobayashi takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Maia connects with a jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kobayashi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Maia's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Maia's back!

Maia throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Maia counters with a nice body shot.

Kobayashi has his foot on Maia's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maia works his way back into a safe position though.

Maia looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kobayashi is one step ahead there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

The referee asks Maia politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Maia prefers to stall for the moment though.

Maia seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kobayashi for as long as he can get away with.
