The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Riley looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Riley has managed to clinch.
Riley is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Apple is defending well for now.
Riley is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Apple is standing up over Riley. Riley looks to escape but Apple dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Apple wants to lay and pray for a moment but Riley keeps working.
Riley tries to improve position but can't.

Riley is not content to let Apple control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Apple taking a break here but Riley is having none of it and regains half guard.
Riley moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Riley seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Apple is sitting in close to Riley's body. Riley has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Apple is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Apple is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Riley.
