The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua misses with a series of wild punches.
Hoy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rua tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hoy paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hoy moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Rua has worked his arm free - good work by Rua!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rua is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Hoy has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Hoy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rua looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hoy is stalling here. Rua is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Hoy seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Rua has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Hoy has hold of Rua's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Rua tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Hoy cranks the arm and Rua screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Rua, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
