Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richard Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Graffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Graffin has chosen American Jesus by Bad Religion as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Richard Ryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Greg Graffin!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Graffin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Graffin gets a clinch.
Graffin can't get the takedown.
Graffin works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Ryan gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Graffin gets back to full guard.
Ryan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Graffin on the ground.

Ryan stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Ryan lands a really nice looking cross but Graffin seems unphased.


It looks like Greg Graffin has been cut.
Ryan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Graffin.
Ryan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ryan bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Graffin! He dives into his guard looking to finish!


Graffin is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Graffin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ryan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Ryan wants to stand but Graffin is controlling his posture from full guard.
Graffin looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Graffin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Graffin has his hands on Ryan's head, controlling the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Ryan scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Graffin looks gassed!
Graffin gets back to half guard.

Ryan decides to stand up.
Ryan throws a head kick but Graffin moves out of range.
Ryan connects with a jab.

Graffin tries to clinch there but Ryan circles away.

Graffin instigates a clinch.
Graffin is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Richard Ryan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Greg Graffin.
Ryan gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Graffin.
Graffin looking to stall.
Ryan wants to get back to striking at distance but Graffin won't allow it.
Ryan stops a takedown attempt from Graffin.
Ryan wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

That has opened up Greg Graffin's cut even more.
Ryan creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Ryan stands up and beckons Graffin to his feet.
Graffin seems to have recovered his senses.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Ryan scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Graffin is looking to improve his position.
Graffin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ryan is working away from the top position though.
Ryan with the ground and pound but Graffin uses the opportunity to regain guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Graffin looking for a sweep. Not yet Graffin, not yet.
Graffin striking off his back but it's not causing Ryan any problems.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ryan walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Graffin checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Graffin shoots in but Ryan avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Graffin keeps the fight on the outside.
Graffin tries to close the distance and clinch but Ryan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Graffin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ryan is fending him off so far but Graffin persists. Nope, Ryan circles away and we're back to standing.

Ryan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Ryan tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Graffin.
Graffin trying to hold on to Ryan's head to control him but Ryan postures up.
Graffin is not content to let Ryan control the position.

Ryan is working for a kimura but Graffin is defending it quite comfortably.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ryan throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Graffin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ryan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ryan's back!
Ryan tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Graffin is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Graffin looking for a guillotine from mount but Ryan is having none of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ryan throwing hammer fists to the chest of Graffin. What's that going to do exactly?
Graffin can't control as he wanted to and Ryan manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
Ryan is looking to escape.
Graffin wants to take a breather but Ryan is having none of it.

Graffin stops Ryan from getting back to his feet.

Graffin is looking for a kimura here.
Graffin wants to pass to mount but Ryan is defending the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ryan lands with a nice combination. Graffin backs away looking to recover.
Richard Ryan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Graffin shoots in and bounces Ryan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Ryan is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Graffin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Greg Graffin will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Ryan dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Graffin. That did some damage!
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Graffin tries for a takedown but Ryan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ryan paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Ryan swats away the attempt to clinch by Graffin.

Ryan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ryan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Graffin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Graffin is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Ryan wants to finish this one by submission but Graffin is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Ryan.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Graffin can't escape the position.

Ryan landing strikes from the mount.
Graffin is desperately trying to improve his position but Ryan has a good base and remains in mount.
Graffin wants to try and get back to his feet.
Ryan scoring with strikes but Graffin is staying in there.
Ryan unloading with bombs!
Graffin tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Graffin tries to hold on but Ryan pushes him away.
Richard Ryan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ryan prevents Graffin from getting the reversal.
Ryan in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Graffin can't escape the position.
Graffin tries to lock up and control but Ryan gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Graffin is trying desperately to improve position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Graffin tries to get to full guard but Ryan has control of the leg.

Ryan is trying to work for a kimura but Graffin is defending well.
Graffin flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Richard Ryan showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ryan has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
