Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Steven Jason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody Montgomery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steven Jason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cody Montgomery!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montgomery displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jason.
Montgomery fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Montgomery fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jason on the side of the head.

Montgomery closes the distance and clinches.
Jason could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Montgomery jumps guard.
Jason stops Montgomery from standing up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Montgomery is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Jason dives into side control.
Montgomery is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Montgomery prevents Jason from moving into mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jason wants to control but Montgomery is keeping him busy.

Jason is trying to get an arm triangle but Montgomery is defending well.
Jason wants to lay and pray for a moment but Montgomery keeps working.

Jason decides to stand back up. Jason steps back and let's Montgomery get back to his feet.

Montgomery gets a double leg takedown into Jason's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jason has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Montgomery can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Montgomery slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Jason bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Montgomery's guard.

Montgomery wants to get back to his feet but Jason passes into half guard.

Jason is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Montgomery has managed to free his arm - good work.
Jason wants to pass to mount but Montgomery is defending the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Jason moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Montgomery.
Jason trying to control the position but Montgomery is working away.
Montgomery is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Jason has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Montgomery tries to bench press Jason off him but Jason keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Steven Jason will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

and Montgomery counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Jason not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jason is controlling Montgomery's posture.
Montgomery has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jason thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Montgomery is working Jason over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Montgomery avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Montgomery wants to stand and escape but instead Jason has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Jason wants to control from the top but Montgomery keeps moving.
Montgomery wants to stand up but Jason is controlling him.

Montgomery not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jason looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Montgomery wants to stand and escape but Jason is having none of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Jason has his takedown stuffed
and Montgomery counters with a left and a right that stings Jason.
Jason tries to clinch up but Montgomery circles away and keeps his distance.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jason.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steven Jason. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Montgomery fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jason avoids it really well and circles away.
Montgomery fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Montgomery closes the distance and clinches.

Montgomery breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Montgomery moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Montgomery defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jason.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jason fails with an attempt to clinch.
Montgomery changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Cody Montgomery seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Jason darts in looking for a takedown but Montgomery gets double underhooks and turns Jason into the cage.
Montgomery throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Montgomery closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jason did well to prevent Montgomery getting side control.


Jason is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Montgomery lands with a punch from half guard.
Oh Jason is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Montgomery lands a nice short elbow.

Montgomery is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jason has managed to free his arm - good work.
Montgomery looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jason with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Nice strikes from Montgomery there.
Montgomery working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Montgomery takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Jason is defending against the submission attempts here by Montgomery.
Montgomery drops an elbow to the side of Jason's head.

Montgomery is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jason doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Montgomery.

Cody Montgomery showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Jason's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Jason fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Montgomery lands a huge takedown. Jason is out but the ref is slow to react and Montgomery lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Jason lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cody Montgomery!
