PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Adrian Shota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derick Rose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shota comes to the cage accompanied by Sounds from the Motherland. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adrian Shota!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derick Rose!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shota blocks a jab.
Shota misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rose drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Shota defends it well.
Shota misses with an uppercut.
Rose fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shota manages to avoid it.
Rose throws a shot from downtown. Shota moves away and avoids it.
Nice cross by Rose.
Rose throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shota.
Shota misses the jab.
Shota has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Shota there as he acknowledges the shot.
Rose has his takedown stuffed

and Shota counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Shota.
Shota working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Shota lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Rose or not.
Shota crunches a lovely knee into Rose's ribcage.
Rose dodges an elbow strike from Shota.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rose has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Shota is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Rose looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Rose is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Shota pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Adrian Shota has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derick Rose.

Rose blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Rose drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Shota would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Shota trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Shota stuns Rose with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Rose shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Shota defends it nicely.
Shota on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Shota digs a good hook to Rose's body.

Shota misses with a double jab.
Derick Rose seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shota throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Rose misses with a takedown attempt - Shota sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rose uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Shota has time to react.
A combination from Rose does no damage.
Rose scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Shota ducks under a wild hook from Rose.
Nice shot lands for Shota.
Shota throws a hook to the side of Rose's head but Rose sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
And Rose tries to counter it with a takedown but Shota pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Shota misses with a combination
and Rose cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Shota tries to close the distance and clinch but Rose swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rose ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shota moves away.
Rose circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rose jabs Shota right on the nose. Shota blinks but takes it well.
Shota misses with a wild body shot.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Shota misses with a body shot.
Rose shoots in looking for a takedown but Shota manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rose's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Shota displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rose throws out the jab.
Rose shoots for a takedown but Shota saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rose blocks a jab.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Shota enables Rose to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Shota manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Shota has his feet on Rose's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Shota lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Shota.
Rose swings for the body but Shota moves out of range.
Rose lands a slapping body shot.
Shota throws a right hand that Rose ducks under and follows up with a left that Rose also avoids with ease.
Shota connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adrian Shota dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Shota throws a body punch but Rose moves out of range.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Shota, right into the meat.
Rose scores with a hook.
Shota takes one on the button.
Rose looks to score with a jab to the body but Shota is just out of range.
Shota doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Shota throws a series of punches but Rose avoids them all with ease.
Derick Rose seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Donk. Shota catches Rose right on the button with a cross.
Rose thuds his right hand into Shota's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Shota misses with a straight right.
Rose lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Shota at a distance.
Rose misses with a double jab
and Shota counters with a left right combination that sends Rose crashing to the mat - Shota wastes no time in diving on top of him and pounding Rose out for a TKO! Devastating finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Adrian Shota!
Adrian Shota bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
