PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Havener (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tetsuya Tate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Havener comes into the arena with My Dick: Mickey Avalon blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 24 - 4, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrew Havener!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tetsuya Tate!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Illya Tyunina and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tate fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Havener to the ground. Tate is now in Havener's guard.
Tate postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Havener is trying to control the position but Tate postures up.
Havener on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Havener tries to get out of the position.
Havener being controlled here, momentarily.
Havener working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Tate.
Tate has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Tate not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Tate missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Havener working a defensive guard here.
Tate told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Havener throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Tetsuya Tate has been cut.

Havener darts in and clinches Tate up against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tate is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Havener gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Havener goes for a takedown in the clinch but Tate prevents it.

Tate jumps guard and drags Havener to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Tate holds on and takes a little breather.
Tate keeping moving, preventing Havener from controlling successfully.
Tate wants to sweep here but Havener controlling him for the moment.
Havener trying to control but Tate is working from the bottom.
Havener tries to stand but Tate is controlling from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Tate pulls Havener in to control the position.
Tate looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Havener engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Havener lands a big head kick that sends Tate tumbling to the mat! Havener takes a step backwards and waves Tate back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Tate is rocked!
Tate dives in and grabs Havener's left leg, looking for a takedown. Havener pushes down on Tate's head and hops out.
Tate is still on wobbly legs! Can Havener finish him?
Andrew Havener seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Havener throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tate's waist but Tate gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Havener off to one side.
A solid leg kick lands there for Havener.
Tate shoots in for a double leg but Havener sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Andrew Havener has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tetsuya Tate.
Havener lands with a shot to the body.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Tate misses with a knee strike.
Tate takes an elbow to the temple.

Havener drags the fight down to the ground.
Tate seems to have recovered his senses.
Tate trying to control the position from guard on top but Havener is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Havener knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tate on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tate distracts Havener with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Tate wants to control from the top but Havener keeps moving.
Tate's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Havener is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Tate throws a big right hand that misses.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Tate drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Havener trying his best to control but Tate has mounted him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tate takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Havener is bucking up trying to escape but Tate cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Tate lands with some strikes.
Tate working away from the top, dropping strikes.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Havener is looking to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tetsuya Tate will probably get the nod.

That's time! Back to the action!


Havener tries to clinch up.
Tate shoots for a takedown but Havener saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Havener closes the distance and clinches.

Havener's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Tate tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Havener defends well and Tate ends up having to push Havener into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
A quick step to the side and Havener tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Tate feints and as Havener raises his hands in defense, Tate changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Havener working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Tate.
Tate stands and throws Havener's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Havener is not content to let Tate control the position.
Havener taking punishment in the form of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tate wants to lay and pray for a moment but Havener keeps working.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tate misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Tate throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Tate is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Havener will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Havener is looking for a sweep.
Havener trying to remain calm as Tate controls from the top position.
Havener tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Tate easily slips into full mount!
Tate connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Tate controlling the pace for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tate with good strikes from the mount here!
Tate putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Tate is landing with some decent strikes but Havener is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Tate sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Tate looking to control but Havener is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Tate has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Havener's face.


Havener is rocked!
Tate pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Oh Havener is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Oooooh, big shot lands for Tate! Havener is hurt baaadly! Tate is firing away with more strikes - Havener is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tetsuya Tate!
After the big win, Tetsuya Tate made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors The Adrenaline Matrix and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
Andrew Havener was interviewed post fight and said 'Win/lose I love an ass beating'.
