Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Hick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamahl Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Hick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jamahl Jones!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hick darts in and clinches Jones up against the cage.
Jones tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Jones manages to break the clinch.

Jones moves into the clinch.
Hick avoiding damage as Jones throws knees to the body.
Jones is working for takedown but Hick is calmly controlling the position for now.
Hick tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jones smiles and moves away.
Jones thuds his shin into the meat of Hick's side.

Jones shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hick napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Hick tries to improve position but can't.
Hick manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Hick could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Hick looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hick throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Hick tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.
Hick blocking the ground and pound attempt from Jones.
It looks like Jones is going to stand back up.

Jones is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hick has managed to free his arm - good work.
Jones tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Hick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hick is trying to get back to full guard.
Hick looks like he's trying to stand up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Danga de danga de dang - Jones scores with a four punch combination!


It looks like John Hick has been cut.
Jones wants to clinch up but Hick keeps it at a distance.

Hick fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jones to the ground. Hick is now in Jones's guard.
Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hick is one step ahead there.
Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Hick showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Hick trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Jones decides to stand up.

Hick shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Jones counters with a three punch combo that has Hick backing up. Hick nods at Jones to acknowledge the strikes.
Hick shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jones pinned against the cage. Jones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Hick. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hick has a takedown stuffed.

Hick tries to sprawl but Jones drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Jones stalling away here and it's allowed Hick to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hick misses with a wild combination.
Hick misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hick shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Hick tries to clinch up
and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jones enables Hick to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jones manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Jones lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Jones wants to pass the guard but Hick is keeping the position.
Jones is fighting to break Hick's control of his arms but Hick is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Jones prevents Hick from getting back to his feet.
Jones wants to control from the top but Hick keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hick lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Jamahl Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jones wants to stand but Hick is controlling the position.
Hick has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Jones working for a triangle but Hick defends it easily.
Jones has a closed guard, preventing Hick from standing up.

Hick is looking to pass into half guard but Jones pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Jones is in guard.

Hick is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Hick tries for a takedown but Jones circles away easily
and Jones counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Hick. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hick pushes Jones up against the cage in a clinch.
Jones stops a takedown attempt from Hick.

Jones breaks the clinch.
Hick slaps away a takedown attempt from Jones, before circling back to the center of the mat.
John Hick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jones wants to clinch up but Hick keeps it at a distance.
Jones is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hick sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jamahl Jones will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

As Hick backs off Jones throws a huge counter combo but Hick manages to avoid it all.
Jones lands a slapping body shot.
Hick shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hick circles away from the clinch attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hick shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Jones counters with a right hand to the body.
Hick tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
And Jones tries to counter it with a takedown but Hick pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hick takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Jones lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hick backs up against the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jones gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Jones is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hick pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Jones wants to stall.
Jones tries for a takedown. No joy.
Hick wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jones has him pressed against the cage.
Jones has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Hick after a bit of a struggle.
John Hick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jamahl Jones.
Hick jumps guard but Jones stands there with Hick around his waist. Hick gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

John Hick has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jamahl Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Jamahl Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Jones winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
