Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jess Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Devlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jess Banks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bruce Devlin!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Devlin misses with an uppercut.
Banks fires out a quick counter leg kick but Devlin just manages to avoid it.

Devlin forces Banks back against the cage and clinches.
Banks is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Banks wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Devlin has him pressed against the cage.

Devlin has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Banks clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Banks trying to control the position but Devlin manages to sink in the hooks.
Devlin scores with punches and elbows.

Devlin is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Devlin doesn't have the hooks in and Banks manages to turn into his guard.

Devlin has his foot on Banks's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Banks works his way back into a safe position though.
Banks throwing strikes but missing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Devlin holds on and takes a little breather.
Banks working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Devlin trying to control the position here.
Banks postures up.
Devlin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Devlin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Banks throws a big elbow that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Banks loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Banks has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Devlin is proving hard to escape from.

Devlin looking for a guillotine here but Banks defends easily.
Devlin is trying to control the position but Banks postures up.

Banks thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Devlin closes the distance and pushes Banks back into the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Banks wants to break the clinch but can't.
Banks looking to stall.
Banks wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Devlin fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Devlin has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Banks after a bit of a struggle.
Devlin looking for a takedown.
Jess Banks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruce Devlin.
Banks tries to break free but Devlin pushes him back against the cage.
Banks's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Banks escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Devlin fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Banks to the ground. Devlin is now in Banks's guard.
Devlin looks winded!
Banks wants to stand up but Devlin is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Devlin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Banks is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Banks manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Devlin manages to get himself to full guard.

Banks won't allow Devlin to sweep him here.
Banks scoring with punches to the head and body.
Banks is looking to stand up but Devlin won't let him.
Banks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Banks drops back looking for a leg! Devlin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Devlin manages to kick Banks off! Banks jumps back into Devlin's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Devlin dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Devlin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Banks counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Banks's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Devlin connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Banks scrambles back to his feet.

Banks forces Devlin back against the cage and clinches.
Banks has had enough of the clinch but Devlin keeps him there for the moment.
Banks is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Devlin fails to pull guard.

Devlin gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Banks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Devlin is working away from the top position though.
Bruce Devlin has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Banks regains full guard. Nicely done.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Banks manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Banks is looking to break free of the clinch but Devlin has double underhooks.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Devlin lands a right hand.
Devlin tries to pull guard but Banks won't allow it.
Devlin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Banks is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Jess Banks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruce Devlin.
Devlin is breathing heavily.

Banks breaks from the clinch.
A telegraphed right hand from Devlin misses the target.
Devlin connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Banks tumbling to the canvas! Devlin pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Banks was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Bruce Devlin!
