Da Vinci comes to the cage accompanied by CONQUEST. Simon comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Darude - Sandstorm kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The key to victory for Mateo Da Vinci has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Da Vinci keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Da Vinci ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Simon misses with a head kick.
Da Vinci has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Simon throws a leg kick that is checked
and Da Vinci counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Simon throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Simon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Da Vinci, pushing him back against the cage.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Da Vinci.
Da Vinci lands an elbow inside.
Da Vinci prevents a body shot from Simon.
Da Vinci lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Da Vinci has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Simon avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
A nice left hand lands by Da Vinci.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Simon tries for a takedown. No joy.
Simon lands an elbow inside.

Da Vinci has hold of one of Simon's legs. Simon is fighting the takedown attempt but Da Vinci gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Da Vinci is working Simon over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Simon is rocked!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Da Vinci passes Simon's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Simon is still in real trouble! Can Da Vinci finish him?

Da Vinci is looking for a kimura but Simon is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Da Vinci to get the leverage.
Da Vinci prevents Simon from improving his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Da Vinci is keen to just control but Simon is a slippery customer.
Simon seems to have recovered his senses.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Simon can do anything to dispel that myth.
Da Vinci slips a nice elbow through Simon's hands, connecting with Simon's forehead.
Da Vinci is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Simon is hurt! He's hurt bad - Da Vinci fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Simon from any more punishment! Congratulations to Da Vinci! Great finish!
