The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zuniega misses with a two punch combination.
Zuniega doesn't manage to clinch there - Patel circles away.
Zuniega moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
It looks like Adam Patel has been cut.
Zuniega scores with the left hand. Patel knows he should have avoided that one.
Zuniega throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Patel could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Patel closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Patel goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Zuniega has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Patel but great work by Zuniega.

Zuniega wants to lay and pray for a moment but Patel keeps working.
Patel might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Zuniega creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Patel sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Let's hope that Zuniega has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Patel is not content to let Zuniega control the position.
Patel manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Zuniega is taking a breather. Patel says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Zuniega is trying to control the action in half guard but Patel is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Patel is defending against the submission attempts here by Zuniega.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Jake Zuniega seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zuniega rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Patel moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Patel swats away the attempt to clinch by Zuniega.
As Zuniega looks to move away, Patel throws a big counter combo bu Zuniega just gets out of the way.

Patel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Zuniega.
Zuniega fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
It looked like Patel was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Zuniega pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Patel back to the cage. Zuniega follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Zuniega feints a jab promting Patel to slip. Zuniega then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Patel slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Zuniega throws a series of strikes that have Patel backpedaling.
Patel is rocked!
Zuniega closes the distance and clinches.
Patel is trying to pull guard but Zuniega has him pressed against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Patel tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Zuniega just stands there and leans against the cage.
Patel jumps guard but Zuniega turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Patel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Patel wants to stall.
Patel is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
A frustrated look appears on Zuniega's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Zuniega wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Zuniega is looking to break free of the clinch but Patel has double underhooks.
Patel is trying to pull guard but Zuniega turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Patel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Jake Zuniega seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Patel throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Zuniega is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Patel with a body shot.
Patel goes for a double leg but Zuniega avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Zuniega continues to drive forward.
Zuniega throws a series of punches but Patel avoids them all with ease.

and Zuniega counters with a three punch combo that has Patel backing up. Patel nods at Zuniega to acknowledge the strikes.
Oh Patel is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Zuniega throws an overhand right that has Patel reeling! Zuniega follows up with more punches and Patel is out cold! This one is all over!
