Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chad Griggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Markus Fittz!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Griggs bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fittz avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Griggs.
Griggs trying to control the position but Fittz is working away.
Griggs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
A lull in the action here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Griggs bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fittz's guard.

Fittz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Griggs circles away quickly and effectively.
Griggs throws an overhand right that lands on Fittz's shoulder, as Fittz tries to avoid the shot.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fittz is not content to let Griggs control the position.
Griggs landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Fittz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Griggs is working away from the top position though.
Griggs looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Fittz manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Griggs keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
I was talking to Griggs's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Griggs's jab looks to have found its range, popping Fittz under the eye.
Griggs's corner calls for a 1-2. Griggs obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Fittz lands a lovely overhand right.
Fittz has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


Fittz is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
BOOM! Griggs lands a beautiful left hook that drops Fittz. Fittz tries to recover but Griggs is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Fittz lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 4, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chad Griggs!
