Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christopher Wilt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Christopher Wilt!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilt connects with a nice looking jab.

Smith throws an elbow that misses. Wilt uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Smith's guard. Nice move by Wilt!

Smith can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Wilt controls the pace.
Wilt slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Wilt throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Smith works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Wilt should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Wilt is pressing down on Smith's thigh, looking to free his foot. Smith is holding on for now.

Wilt jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Smith manages to avoid the submission attempt.

The referee asks Wilt politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Wilt prefers to stall for the moment though.

The strikes coming from Wilt are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Wilt has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Wilt is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Smith knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wilt swings around for an armbar but Smith sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Wilt's guard.
Wilt tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Wilt wants to get back to his feet but Smith is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Wilt pulls Smith in close to his closed guard and prevents Smith from doing any damage or advancing position.
Smith is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Smith scores with a sloppy right hand. Wilt should have avoided that one.

Smith throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wilt was covering up waiting for the punch and Smith finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Wilt is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Wilt decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Smith tries to counter with a takedown but Wilt is quick to defend against it.
Wilt shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smith as he avoids it easily.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smith connects with a nice short shot to Wilt's temple.
Smith winds up and cracks Wilt with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Wilt has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Smith is working away from the top position though.
Smith throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Wilt bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smith's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Wilt from controlling successfully.

Wilt passes Smith's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Wilt looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Wilt is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Smith is just riding it out for now. Wilt eventually gives up the hold.
Smith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wilt on the ground.
Wilt takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Wilt is keen to just control but Smith is a slippery customer.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
