Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Cavanagh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cavanagh is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Kalamazoo. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cavanagh keeps the fight on the outside.
Cavanagh shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shields pinned against the cage. Shields gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Shields checks the leg kick nicely there.
Cavanagh wants to clinch but Shields slips to the side

and Shields counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Shields with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Cavanagh blocking the ground and pound attempt from Shields.
Shields perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Shields's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Cavanagh is pressing down on Shields's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Shields stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cavanagh swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shields wants to control from the top but Cavanagh keeps moving.
Cavanagh trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Cavanagh keeping moving, preventing Shields from controlling successfully.
Shields knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cavanagh on the ground.

Cavanagh looking for a triangle here. Shields is fighting it but it looks tight! Cavanagh pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Shields is tapping out - this one is all over!
