PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bilbo Cran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mongo Smash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bilbo Cran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mongo Smash!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Ben Watson and Chris Dean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cran tries to close the distance and clinch but Smash swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Cran has closed the distance and engaged Smash in a clinch.

Cran wants the takedown. Smash is fighting it off but Cran persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Smash's guard against the cage.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Cran wants to control from the top but Smash keeps moving.

Smash is looking for a triangle but Cran pushes his legs off easily.
Cran knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smash on the ground.

Cran drops back, looking for a kneebar! Smash looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Smash looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Smash!

Smash in side control, throwing shots but Cran defends.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Smash is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cran has escaped the position, nice work there.
Cran is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Smash asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Cran tries to buck Smash off but Smash is having none of it.
Smash lands an elbow.
Cran wants to control but Smash postures up.
Cran being controlled for a moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cran takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Cran takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Smash throws an elbow but Cran slips to the side and avoids it well.
Smash creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Smash landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Cran is not content to let Smash control the position.

Smash is trying to get an arm triangle but Cran is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The ground and pound from Smash seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Smash controls the position.
Smash cracks Cran with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Cran is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Smash is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cran knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cran tries to escape but Smash is in control.
Smash works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Smash tries to move to mount but Cran blocks the move with his legs.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smash working the ground and pound.
Cran is breathing heavily.
Smash connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Cran some visible discomfort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mongo Smash dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Smash fails with the takedown
and Cran counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Cran staying out of range there.

Cran gets a takedown into half guard.
Cran throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Smash makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Smash.

Smash has his feet on Cran's thighs here. He's pushed Cran off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Cran screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
