Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rashad Skinner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Herss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rashad Skinner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alex Herss!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skinner connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Herss tries to score a power double leg takedown but Skinner sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Herss somewhat.
Skinner tries to counter with a takedown but Herss is quick to defend against it.
Alex Herss seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Skinner lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Herss moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Herss dives in for a single leg takedown but Skinner sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Herss is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Skinner makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Herss is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Skinner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Skinner postures up in Herss's guard and throws a big left but Herss blocks it.
Skinner is fighting to break Herss's control of his arms but Herss is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

A quick step to the side and Skinner tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Skinner darts in and clinches Herss up against the cage.

Herss is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Skinner slows down the pace here.
Skinner is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Herss is keeping busy.

Herss pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Herss shoots in looking for a takedown. Skinner tries to sprawl out of it but Herss keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Skinner manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Skinner fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Herss sprawls well initially but Skinner persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Skinner is trying to control the action in half guard but Herss is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Herss darts in and clinches Skinner up against the cage.
Herss wants to take the fight to the mat but Skinner manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Skinner shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Skinner was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Skinner with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Skinner wants to control from the top but Herss keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Skinner moves into the clinch.
Skinner looking to throw knees to the head but Herss is blocking nicely.
Skinner misses with a knee to the head.
Skinner looking to stall.
Skinner lands a knee to the body.
Herss takes a knee to the side of the body.

Herss is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Skinner to keep the fight standing.

Herss has picked Skinner up - he's going for a ride! Herss dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Herss takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Herss shoots in looking for a takedown. Skinner tries to sprawl out of it but Herss keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Skinner manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
