PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Stone Mountain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Amin Sax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sax has chosen Infected Mushroom - Smashing The Opponent as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stone Mountain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 38 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Amin Sax!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sax lands with a slapping head kick.


It looks like Stone Mountain has been cut.
Sax tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Sax has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Mountain shoots for a double leg takedown but Sax sprawls well. He's pushed Mountain's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sax lands a nice looking kick to the body. Mountain takes a step back to recover.
Sax misses with a head kick.
Mountain has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Sax slaps away a takedown attempt from Mountain, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mountain takes a head kick and keeps coming.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mountain shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sax but Sax pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stone Mountain. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sax throws a sloppy head kick and Mountain moves out of range easily.
Mountain tries to counter with a takedown but Sax is quick to defend against it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mountain changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sax tries to avoid it but Mountain manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sax to the ground. Sax escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

so Sax counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Mountain avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Sax working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sax slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Sax just content to control the position.
Sax tries to advance to mount but Mountain denies him.
The ground and pound from Sax seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Sax thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mountain tries to buck Sax off but Sax is having none of it.
Mountain struggling a bit here.
Mountain manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Sax prevents Mountain from improving his position.

Sax is looking for a kimura here.
Mountain preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Mountain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sax on the ground.
Mountain has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Mountain.

Sax is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mountain defends it well.
Sax not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Mountain has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sax is working away from the top position though.
Sax tries to stand but can't do so whilst Mountain controls his leg.

Sax is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mountain tries to roll over but Sax keeps him under control.
Sax tries to pass to full mount but Mountain defends it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Sax is trying to work for a kimura but Mountain is defending well.
Mountain trying to control but Sax postures up.
Mountain tries to roll over but Sax keeps him under control.
Mountain wants to control but Sax is keeping busy.
Mountain is trying to get back to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sax is keen to just control but Mountain is a slippery customer.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Amin Sax dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Stone Mountain's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Mountain fails with a takedown attempt.
Sax lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Mountain dives in and grabs Sax's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sax pushes down on Mountain's head and hops out.
Sax has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mountain shoots and misses
and Sax counters with a left and a right that stings Mountain.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stone Mountain. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mountain fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mountain shoots for a takedown but Sax saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Sax throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Mountain.

Sax slaps away a takedown attempt from Mountain, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Mountain shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sax as he jumps to the side.
Mountain dives in for a single leg takedown but Sax sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Mountain tries for a takedown but Sax sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Amin Sax seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sax lands a big head kick that sends Mountain tumbling to the mat! Sax takes a step backwards and waves Mountain back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Oh Mountain is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sax looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Sax backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Mountain's temple! It sends Mountain violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Sax celebrates and the doctors try to help Mountain!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). Amin Sax!
An out of breath Amin Sax thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
