The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charleston pushes Aikawa up against the cage in a clinch.
Charleston decides to pull guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Aikawa not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Aikawa has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Aikawa seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Charleston for as long as he can get away with.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Charleston is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Aikawa is controlling him.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Aikawa avoiding damage as Charleston throws knees to the body.
Charleston creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Charleston throws a knee to the head but misses.
Aikawa gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Aikawa controls from within his opponent's guard.

Aikawa's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Charleston fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Aikawa sprawls well initially but Charleston persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
The fighters are battling for position here. Aikawa manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Charleston won't allow Aikawa to sweep him here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Charleston working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Aikawa's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Charleston content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Aikawa has locked up a guillotine! Aikawa's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Charleston is holding on here and Aikawa must be using up a lot of energy. Charleston has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Aikawa gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
