The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avery's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Rasputin connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Avery scrambles back to his feet.
Avery throws a poor cross that misses
and Rasputin counters with a nice uppercut.
Rasputin lands a nice shot that snaps Avery's head back.
Avery misses the jab.
Avery misses with an uppercut.
A swing and a miss from Avery.
Rasputin on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Rasputin motions for Avery to come forward. Rasputin throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Avery throwing a counter right hand but Rasputin manages to avoid it.
Rasputin walks into a straight right hand from Avery.
Rasputin throws a right and a left that Avery avoids nicely.
Rasputin uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Avery.
Avery fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Rasputin.
Avery looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Rasputin counters with a stiff right hand.
Avery misses with a kick to the body.

Rasputin moves in looking to clinch but Avery pushes him off.
Rasputin tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Avery throws an overhand right that lands on Rasputin's shoulder, as Rasputin tries to avoid the shot.
Rasputin swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
The fighters circling - Avery throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Avery thows a body kick. Rasputin tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Avery pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Nice defenses there by Rasputin.
A telegraphed right hand from Rasputin misses the target.
Avery throws a wild body kick that Rasputin sees coming a mile off.
Avery connects with a leg kick. Rasputin looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Rasputin steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Avery. That one must have hurt.
Avery swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rasputin throws a fast counter high kick but Avery manages to duck under it in time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Avery throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Rasputin throws a leg kick that misses.
Avery tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Rasputin is able to avoid easily.
Rasputin fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Avery on the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rasputin throws a hook but Avery blocks it.
Marcus Avery seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rasputin lands a jab to the nose.
Avery throws a hook to the side of Rasputin's head but Rasputin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Rasputin avoids a punch combination nicely.
Avery tries to bum rush Rasputin with a series of wild strikes but Rasputin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Rasputin blocks a jab.
Avery thuds his right hand into Rasputin's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Rasputin lands with a thumping leg kick.
Rasputin takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Avery misses with a body kick.
Rasputin lands a jab.
Rasputin slips under a jab.
Rasputin swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Rasputin fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Avery is out of range.
Avery tests Rasputin's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Rasputin cracks Avery with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Avery falls to his knees and Rasputin doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Grigori Rasputin! Grigori Rasputin retains his heavyweight title!
Grigori Rasputin took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'First Titeldefence, i am happy. My abbey brew is waiting for me. Maybe my opponents should try it. Seems to work for me. '.
Marcus Avery spoke after the fight, saying 'Oh man, thanks for the support, I am still young and will just keep getting better.'.
