Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Shimada and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maldonado has managed to clinch.
Akku tightens his grip and picks Maldonado up, before dumping him to the ground. Maldonado manages to land in guard.
Maldonado not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Maldonado looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Akku wants to pass the guard but Maldonado is keeping the position.
Maldonado pulls Akku in close to his closed guard and prevents Akku from doing any damage or advancing position.
Akku seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Akku content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Akku prevents Maldonado from getting back to his feet.
Akku forces his way into half guard.

Maldonado has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Akku is working away from the top position though.
Maldonado is looking for a sweep. Akku is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maldonado is trying to control but can't.
Akku is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Akku looking to isolate an arm here. Maldonado doesn't see it coming and as Akku extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Akku!
