PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Caleb Carr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jared Nicholson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carr comes into the arena with Gang Starr - Moment Of Truth blaring out of the sound system. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Caleb Carr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jared Nicholson!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carr keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Carr will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Carr lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Nicholson throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Carr.
We've been informed that Nicholson has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Nicholson lands a head kick. Carr smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Carr tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Carr tries to counter by clinching up but Nicholson breaks away and moves out of range.

Nicholson cracks Carr with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Carr shoots in looking for a takedown but Nicholson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carr's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Nicholson darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Carr takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Nicholson ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Carr stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Nicholson.
Good leg kick by Nicholson there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Carr misses with a takedown attempt - Nicholson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Carr uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nicholson.

Carr is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Nicholson's half guard.
Nicholson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Carr is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Carr is trying to control the action in half guard but Nicholson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Nicholson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carr. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Nicholson is trying to control but can't.
Nicholson is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Carr in particular looking to stall.
