The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Derksen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Derksen scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
It looks like Alex James has been cut.
Derksen connects with an inside leg kick.
James dives in and grabs Derksen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Derksen pushes down on James's head and hops out.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from James.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex James. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That kick from Derksen tenderised James's leg. James is trying to keep his angry face on.
Derksen connects with a solid leg kick.
James takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Derksen uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from James.
Derksen lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Derksen throws a front kick that sends James stumbling back into the cage.
Derksen fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but James is out of range.
James closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
James is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Derksen is just riding it out for now. James eventually gives up the hold.
Derksen is pressing down on James's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

James postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Derksen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
James is trying to stand back up but Derksen is controlling him
James kicks Derksen off and gets back to his feet.

A jab lands there for Derksen.
James darts in looking for a takedown but Derksen gets double underhooks and turns James into the cage.
James sets himself, and Derksen steps forward looking for the clinch! James avoids it this time.
Derksen throws a quick inside leg kick.

and James counters with a single leg into guard. Derksen didn't expect that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Derksen holds on and takes a little breather.
Derksen thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Derksen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Derksen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
James throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Derksen sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Derksen throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck James on the side of the head.
Derksen lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Christian Derksen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

James tries for a takedown but Derksen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
James has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Derksen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Derksen throws a big uppercut that drops James! More strikes from Derksen and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! James lies dazed against the cage as Derksen celebrates with his cornermen!
