PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gilad Shalit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boris Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shalit comes into the arena with MC Sapinho - Gilad Shalit blaring out of the sound system. Brown has chosen Sweet Child of Mine as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Boris Brown enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gilad Shalit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Boris Brown!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Darius Henderson and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Shalit lands with a shot to the body.
Brown takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Shalit takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.


It looks like Boris Brown has been cut.
Shalit swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Brown.
Brown ducks right into an uppercut from Shalit.
Shalit lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Brown at a distance.
Brown looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Shalit throws a series of punches but Brown moves out of range.
Shalit has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Kombat MMA in the buildup to the fight.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Brown takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Shalit tries to bum rush Brown with a series of wild strikes but Brown uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Brown slips a jab and a cross from Shalit.
Brown wants to counter the offense by Shalit and move into the clinch position.
Shalit looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Shalit cracks Brown with an open hand slap.
Brown misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Shalit.

Gilad Shalit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nice uppercut lands for Shalit. That snapped Brown's head back.

Shalit is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shalit connects with a single shot there.
Shalit fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Shalit lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A quick step to the side and Shalit tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Shalit throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shalit will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Shalit throws a lazy right hand but Brown sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Brown looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Shalit is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Brown can do to turn this around?

Shalit ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Shalit throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Shalit fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Brown looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Brown is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shalit throws a hook but Brown blocks it.
Brown let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Shalit throws a right and a left that both miss.
Brown avoids the body shot from Shalit.
Brown only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Shalit dips to his left and cracks Brown with an uppercut!

and Brown counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Brown shoots in and drives through. Shalit sprawls well.
Shalit lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Brown misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Brown doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Shalit lands an overhand right.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Brown is rocked!
Shalit lands with a big left! Brown is wobbled badly! Shalit comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Brown to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
