The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcdowell takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Mcdowell fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
It seemed like Goodman was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

and Goodman counters with a lovely shot to the body.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Goodman fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Mcdowell on the side of the head.

Saul Goodman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Mcdowell scores with a takedown into Goodman's guard.

Mcdowell thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Goodman is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Mcdowell won't allow Goodman to sweep him here.

Goodman seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Mcdowell is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Goodman is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Goodman is looking to sweep but instead, Mcdowell has passed into half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Goodman is looking to get back to is feet but Mcdowell passes into side control.
Goodman trying to control but Mcdowell flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Mcdowell has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Goodman.
Goodman covering up well under a barage of strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Goodman wants to control his opponent's hands but Mcdowell gets his hands free.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Goodman trying to get back to his feet but Mcdowell is in full control for now.
Mcdowell lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jeromy Mcdowell will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Goodman misses with an uppercut

and Mcdowell moves into the clinch.

Mcdowell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Goodman gets tackled into the cage by Mcdowell. Mcdowell maintains the clinch.
Mcdowell fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Goodman prevents a takedown attempt there.

Mcdowell decides to pull guard.

Goodman sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Mcdowell doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Goodman paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Mcdowell - great work!
