PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eric Shepard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marshall Charbonneau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Charbonneau has chosen Stromae - Formidable as his entrance music. Eric Shepard has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eric Shepard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marshall Charbonneau!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Roberts and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shepard moves into the clinch.
Shepard tries to stall but Charbonneau uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Charbonneau is looking for a triangle but Shepard pushes his legs off easily.
Shepard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Charbonneau pulls Shepard in to control the position.

Charbonneau is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Charbonneau has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shepard postures up in Charbonneau's guard and throws a big left but Charbonneau blocks it.
Shepard is fighting to break Charbonneau's control of his arms but Charbonneau is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Shepard has Charbonneau up against the cage in a clinch.
Shepard drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Charbonneau gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Charbonneau changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Shepard fights it off and pushes away nicely.

A quick step to the side and Shepard tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Shepard throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Charbonneau stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Shepard is letting Charbonneau control him for a moment.

Charbonneau scores with a couple of short elbows.
A lull in the action here as Charbonneau stalls from top position.
Shepard takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Charbonneau is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Charbonneau's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Charbonneau tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Charbonneau is working Shepard over with some ground and pound from side control.


Shepard is rocked!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marshall Charbonneau dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Charbonneau dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Shepard has had enough and taps out.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Marshall Charbonneau!
