Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vyacheslav Romanov!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Obworth avoids the head kick by Romanov.

Romanov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've been hearing good reports from Obworth's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Obworth is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Romanov felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Obworth is looking for a kimura but Romanov is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Obworth to get the leverage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Obworth wants to free his trapped foot but Romanov is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Romanov regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Obworth.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Obworth accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Romanov is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Obworth postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Obworth is pushing down on Romanov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Romanov is fighting to maintain full guard but Obworth has managed to sneak the leg through.

That's time! Obworth's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Obworth lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Obworth lands a jab to Romanov's midsection.

and Romanov counters with a head kick that drops Obworth to the mat! Obworth scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Jacob Obworth is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Romanov Throws a clean left jab. Romanov Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Obworth's chin! Obworth crumbles to the ground and Romanov follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Romanov!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Vyacheslav Romanov!
After winning the bout, Vyacheslav Romanov thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
