PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sam Ponjev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duncan Jon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Sam Ponjev has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Sam Ponjev seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Jon misses.
Ponjev changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
A telegraphed right hand from Jon misses the target.
Ponjev staying out of range there.
Ponjev throws the left hand but Jon avoids the punch easily.
Ponjev pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A little jabbing left from Jon on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Ponjev uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jon.

Jon fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Jon tries to move into range but Ponjev moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.


It looks like Duncan Jon has been cut.

Jon avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

and Jon counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The fighters circle momentarily. Jon darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
