PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Truman Petersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wadud Adamu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petersen wants to clinch.

Petersen feints and as Adamu raises his hands in defense, Petersen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Adamu is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Adamu thows a huge punch but Petersen dodges it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Petersen tries to get to full guard but Adamu has control of the leg.
Adamu is taking a breather. Petersen says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Petersen wants to get back to his feet.

Adamu is looking for a kimura but Petersen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Adamu to get the leverage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Adamu is looking to take a break and control but Petersen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Petersen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Adamu wants to pass to mount but Petersen is defending the position.
Adamu is controlling the pace.

Adamu is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Petersen has managed to free his arm - good work.

Petersen is staying active underneath Adamu, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Petersen throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Petersen dives in for a single leg takedown but Adamu sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Petersen looking to sit in guard and control but Adamu gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Petersen wants to get back to his feet but Adamu is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That was a close round but I would say that Truman Petersen will probably get the nod.
That's time! Petersen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Adamu is trying hard to land a takedown here. Petersen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Adamu lands a couple of elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Petersen gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Adamu seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Adamu distracts Petersen with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Petersen wants to get back to his feet but Adamu is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Wadud Adamu has got the better of the ground game so far.
Adamu is pushing down on Petersen's leg trying to pass to half guard. Petersen is fighting to maintain full guard but Adamu has managed to sneak the leg through.

Adamu is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Adamu is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Petersen really is a fat lump.

Petersen has taken the fight to the clinch.

Adamu breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Petersen drives through with a takedown into guard.
Adamu is trying to control the position but Petersen postures up.

Adamu has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Petersen is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Adamu.

Petersen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Adamu keeps working.
Adamu is looking for a sweep.

Adamu is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wadud Adamu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Petersen slaps away a takedown attempt from Adamu, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Petersen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Adamu paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Adamu wants to take the fight to the mat but Petersen manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Truman Petersen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wadud Adamu.

Adamu breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Petersen throws a sloppy head kick and Adamu moves out of range easily.

Adamu shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Petersen napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Adamu takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Petersen tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Adamu has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Adamu with shots to the head and body - Petersen looks very uncomfortable down there.

Petersen wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Adamu is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

The referee is taking a good look at Petersen as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Adamu!
Adamu lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Petersen hold on?!
Petersen wants to get back to his feet.

Adamu looking to break Petersen's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Petersen remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Adamu will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
