PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ted Horne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Enzo Roc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ted Horne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Enzo Roc!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Columbo Gatti and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horne misses with a hook.
Roc shoots in but no luck this time.
Horne lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Roc shoots in looking for a takedown. Horne tries to sprawl out of it but Roc keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Horne manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Roc throws a head kick but Horne moves out of range.
Horne misses with a two punch combination.

Roc closes the distance and clinches.
Horne working some nice short punches in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horne wants to take the fight to the mat but Roc manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Roc is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Horne is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Roc gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Horne is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Roc is defending well.

Roc tries to pull guard but Horne won't allow it.

Roc tries to pull guard but Horne won't allow it.
Horne is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Roc pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Horne drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Roc gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Horne keeps control of Roc as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Roc jumps guard.
Roc wants to get back to his feet but Horne is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Roc really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Horne. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Roc utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Horne stops Roc from standing up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Roc bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Horne's guard.

Roc controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Roc wants to stand and escape but instead Horne has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.


That's four minutes gone in the round.
Roc looking to control.

Horne stands and steps away. Roc gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Horne is defended easily by Roc.
Despite the aggression on Roc's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Roc gets in close and instigates a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Enzo Roc will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Roc shoots and misses
letting Horne counter with a right hand.
We've been informed that Roc has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Roc swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Roc looks to score with a jab to the body but Horne is just out of range.
Horne appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Enzo Roc seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roc throws a series of punches but Horne moves out of range.
Roc misses with a combination
and Horne counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Roc just misses with a punch to the body.
Roc tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Roc shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Horne is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Roc is defending well.
Horne keeps control of Roc as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Horne drags the fight down to the ground.

Roc wants to get up but he can't break Horne's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Roc postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Roc trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Roc throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Horne works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Horne will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Roc throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Roc looking to sit in guard and control but Horne gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Roc is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Horne landing some decent shots from guard.
Roc wants to stand but Horne is controlling the position.

Horne gets to his feet. Roc looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Roc throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Roc misses with a body shot.

Roc looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Roc lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Ted Horne has been cut.

Roc has closed the distance and engaged Horne in a clinch.
Roc stops a takedown attempt from Horne.

Roc tries to pull guard but Horne forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Roc is trying to drag Horne to the mat but Horne just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Roc jumps guard but Horne stands there with Roc around his waist. Roc gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Horne wants to take the fight to the mat but Roc manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Horne prevents a takedown attempt there.
Roc looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Roc lands a body punch.

Horne manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Roc wants to control from the top but Horne keeps moving.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Enzo Roc showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Ted Horne's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Sloppy strikes from Roc. Those never looked like landing.
Horne shoots for a takedown but Roc saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Roc shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Horne as he avoids it easily.
Horne fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Roc swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Roc is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Roc wants to stand but Horne has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Horne is pulling down on Roc's head to control his posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Roc scores with a hook to the body. Horne takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Roc throws a head kick that misses.
Horne appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Roc misses the shot to the body.
Roc throws a series of punches but Horne avoids them all with ease.
Horne went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
