Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Cozard Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicolas Arenas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cozard Jr comes to the ring accompanied by Kid Rock- You Never Met a Motherfucker Quite Like Me. Arenas has chosen Alive-Krewella as his entrance music. Nicolas Arenas told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cozard Jr fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A decent looking cross lands there for Arenas.
Arenas lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Arenas lands a jab.
Cozard Jr shoots in but Arenas avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A countering left hand to the body from Arenas misses.

Cozard Jr shoots in for a takedown but Arenas shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

No joy there for Arenas, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Arenas stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Arenas throws a leg kick which misses Cozard Jr's front leg but catches the back leg as Cozard Jr tries to avoid it.

Arenas's coach down at Franklin D. Bluth Memorial Supergym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Arenas's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Cozard Jr takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Cozard Jr shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Arenas pinned against the ropes. Arenas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Arenas is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Cozard Jr had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Nicolas Arenas seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Arenas feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Cozard Jr sprawling to the canvas! Cozard Jr rolls over backwards and springs off the ropes and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Arenas finish him?!
Cozard Jr connects with a jab.
Arenas has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Arenas drops Cozard Jr with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Cozard Jr looks back up at him and smiles so Arenas waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Arenas drops Cozard Jr with a naaaaasty hook - Cozard Jr is in real trouble here! Arenas dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

Nicolas Arenas decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
