Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Al Forenza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and GeorgesSt Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Al Forenza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, GeorgesSt Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Viktor Lagutenko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pierre gets a clinch.
Pierre with an attempt at a knee that misses.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Pierre takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Pierre pulls guard successfully.
Pierre looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Pierre is trying to keep Forenza in close.
Pierre is looking to stand up but Forenza isn't so interested in that idea.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Forenza stays in close to Pierre's body and controls the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Pierre stuffs the takedown.
Pierre moves in looking to clinch but Forenza pushes him off.
Pierre throws a right hand that Forenza ducks under and follows up with a left that Forenza also avoids with ease.
Pierre misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Pierre feints and as Forenza raises his hands in defense, Pierre changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Forenza seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Forenza has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Pierre is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Forenza is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Forenza has escaped and now he's on top!

Forenza controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Forenza seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Pierre for as long as he can get away with.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Al Forenza just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Pierre rushes Forenza and presses him up against the cage.
Pierre wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pierre is stalling here.
Forenza tries to pull guard but Pierre won't allow it.

Pierre breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Pierre closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pierre lands in his opponent's guard.
Pierre looks gassed!
Forenza managing to control the position.
Pierre has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Forenza is proving hard to escape from.

Forenza has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pierre can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

GeorgesSt Pierre dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Pierre bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Pierre stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Forenza feints and as Pierre raises his hands in defense, Forenza changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Forenza is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Pierre is trying to control the position but Forenza postures up.
Forenza showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Pierre looking for a sweep. Not yet Pierre, not yet.
Pierre not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Forenza is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Pierre is breathing heavily.

Pierre is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Forenza is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pierre tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Forenza is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Al Forenza just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

and Pierre counters with a takedown into side control.

Forenza is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Pierre wants to control but Forenza is keeping him busy.
Forenza struggling a bit here.

Pierre stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Forenza shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Forenza was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Forenza tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Pierre is wriggling around trying to escape.
Forenza controlling his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but GeorgesSt Pierre will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Pierre ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Pierre is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Forenza stays in close to Pierre's body and controls the position.
Forenza won't allow Pierre to sweep him here.
Forenza trying to control but Pierre is working from the bottom.
Pierre trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Pierre escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Forenza gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pierre takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Forenza slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
A lull in the action here.

Forenza in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Pierre is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Al Forenza!
