Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Masahiko Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Split Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Masahiko Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Split Rush!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rush feints and as Kimura raises his hands in defense, Rush changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kimura is pulling down on Rush's head. It's preventing any offense from Rush, at least for the moment.
Rush missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Rush sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kimura's guard.
Kimura works his way to full guard. Good work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rush throwing strikes from guard but Kimura blocks nicely.
Kimura is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kimura utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Kimura definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Kimura might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Rush throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kimura works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kimura is trying to control the position but Rush postures up.
Rush is in close to Kimura's body, working some short punches and elbows.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Rush looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Kimura!

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Rush loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Rush throws a body shot but no joy.

Rush shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kimura regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Rush.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Kimura gets caught flat footed, as Rush shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Rush wants to pass the guard but Kimura is keeping the position.
Kimura controls Rush momentarily but Rush frees himself.
Rush content to stall in guard here.
Kimura looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Kimura trying to keep a closed guard but Rush is proving a slippery customer.
Kimura is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kimura pulls Rush in close to his closed guard and prevents Rush from doing any damage or advancing position.

Rush seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Kimura keeping hold of Rush's head, controlling as best he can.
Kimura won't allow Rush to pass to mount.
Rush is keen to just control but Kimura is a slippery customer.
Rush thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kimura's head.
Rush throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kimura moves into full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rush's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Split Rush showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Rush shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kimura napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Rush looks up at the clock and then as Kimura takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Rush smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Rush wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kimura keeps working.
Kimura takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Rush lands an elbow.
Rush working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Kimura is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Rush is working Kimura over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Split Rush comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rush has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
