The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fernandez tries a head kick but it misses.
Fernandez is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Fernandez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Hendricks is not content to let Fernandez control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fernandez tries to get the hooks in deep but Hendricks pushed the leg off.
Hendricks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hendricks is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.

Hendricks changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fernandez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fernandez sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Fernandez is pressing down on Hendricks's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fernandez is on top in guard.

Hendricks knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fernandez on the ground.

Hendricks rushes Fernandez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hendricks tries for a takedown but Fernandez manages to get underhooks.

Fernandez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fernandez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Fernandez gets caught flat footed, as Hendricks shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Hendricks is breathing heavily.
Fernandez looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hendricks puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Fernandez is looking to control Hendricks's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fernandez avoid being mounted?

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Brayann Fernandez will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Hendricks fails with the takedown
and Fernandez counters with a three punch combo that has Hendricks backing up. Hendricks nods at Fernandez to acknowledge the strikes.
Fernandez throws a right hand that Hendricks ducks under and follows up with a left that Hendricks also avoids with ease.

Fernandez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hendricks shoots in for a takedown but Fernandez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hendricks keeps the fight on the outside.
As Fernandez tries to get set, Hendricks tries to push him back and clinch up but Fernandez manages to avoid the attempt.

Fernandez throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hendricks was covering up waiting for the punch and Fernandez finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Fernandez decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hendricks closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Hendricks is sitting in close to Fernandez's body. Fernandez has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Hendricks is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Hendricks is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Fernandez.
