PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jon Raddz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gordon Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Raddz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gordon Patterson!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, John Roberts and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Patterson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Raddz to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Patterson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Patterson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Raddz tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Raddz tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Patterson.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Patterson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Raddz pinned against the cage. Raddz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Patterson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Raddz is working away from the top position though.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Patterson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Raddz instigates a clinch.
Patterson misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Raddz.

Raddz gets control of Patterson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Raddz will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Raddz looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Patterson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Raddz's guard.
Raddz wants to improve his position but Patterson is controlling well.
Patterson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Raddz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Raddz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Patterson is working away from the top position though.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Raddz paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Patterson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Raddz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Patterson somewhat.
It looked like Raddz wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Raddz takes the fight into the clinch.
Patterson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Raddz is defending well for now.
Raddz lands a hook to the side of the head.
Patterson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Raddz to keep the fight standing.

Patterson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Raddz uses from the top position.
Raddz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Raddz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Gordon Patterson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Raddz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
