Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richard Booth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Samsonov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Richard Booth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergei Samsonov!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Ivan Kurochkin and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samsonov falls off balance throwing a combination

and Booth counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Samsonov is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Booth trying to stand up but can't free himself from Samsonov's guard.
Samsonov looking for a sweep. Not yet Samsonov, not yet.
Booth wants to get up but he can't break Samsonov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Samsonov has momentary wrist control but Booth slips an elbow through the middle.
Booth is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Booth with a nice head shot there.
Booth is looking to stand up but Samsonov won't let him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Booth trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Samsonov tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Booth would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Samsonov will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Booth clinches with his opponent.
Booth tries for a takedown but Samsonov manages to get underhooks.
Booth really is a fat lump.

Booth ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Booth no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Booth keeping full guard, as Samsonov tries to pass.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Samsonov drops back, looking for a kneebar! Booth looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Booth looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Booth!

Samsonov looks winded!
Samsonov tries to bench press Booth off him but Booth keeps the position.
Booth tries to stand but Samsonov is controlling his head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Booth working the ground and pound.

Booth decides to stand back up.

Booth has closed the distance and engaged Samsonov in a clinch.
Booth fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Booth blocking some punches.
Booth fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Richard Booth. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Samsonov prevents the takedown attempt.
Booth lands with a right to the head.

Booth jumps into guard, dragging Samsonov to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Samsonov stands and throws Booth's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Samsonov is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Booth is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Booth knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Samsonov on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Booth is looking to reverse the position.

Samsonov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Samsonov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Booth is looking to regain half guard here but Samsonov keeps moving and retains side control.
An elbow from Samsonov crashes against the mat.
Booth gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Samsonov working for a guillotine from mount but Booth is in no mood to give up.
Booth blocking the ground and pound.
Booth keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Samsonov throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Booth has his hands clasped together but Samsonov breaks the hold and Booth is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Samsonov!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sergei Samsonov!
A relieved looking Sergei Samsonov thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
