Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Equinox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mickey McMasters!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Equinox blocks a head kick by McMasters.
Equinox swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Equinox rushes McMasters and presses him up against the cage.
Equinox wants to stall.
Equinox lands with a short punch from the clinch.
McMasters gets through Equinox's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

McMasters breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Oooh a lovely combination from McMasters sends Equinox down but not out. McMasters dives into side control looking to finish.


Equinox is rocked!

McMasters decides to stand up, so the ref orders Equinox to his feet.
Oh Equinox is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Equinox pushes McMasters up against the cage in a clinch.
Equinox seems to have got his legs back now.
Equinox slows down the pace here.
McMasters is looking to break free of the clinch but Equinox has double underhooks.

McMasters breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
McMasters throws a head kick that misses.
Equinox catches McMasters with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!


It looks like Mickey McMasters has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Equinox darts in and clinches McMasters up against the cage.

McMasters breaks the clinch.
Equinox tries to clinch up but McMasters circles away and keeps his distance.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from McMasters, right into the meat.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Equinox tries to keep at a distance but McMasters has taken the fight into the clinch.
McMasters wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

McMasters breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
McMasters takes one to the side of the head.
A telegraphed right hand from McMasters misses the target.
McMasters misses with a few strikes there.
A punch combination from Equinox misses.
McMasters staying out of range there.
Equinox throws a good cross that connects.
A combination from Equinox does no damage.
Equinox lands with a cross.
Equinox doesn't manage to clinch there - McMasters circles away.
Equinox staying out of range there.
McMasters throws a head kick that misses.
McMasters throws a sloppy head kick and Equinox moves out of range easily.
Equinox drops his shoulder and cracks McMasters with a huge uppercut! McMasters goes down! Can Equinox finish him?


McMasters is rocked!

McMasters pushes Equinox off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
McMasters looks gassed!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Equinox rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McMasters moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
McMasters falls off balance throwing a combination

and Equinox counters with a left and a right that hurts McMasters! He wobbles and falls to the floor - he's in big trouble! Equinox jumps into full mount!
McMasters is still in real trouble! Can Equinox finish him?
Equinox trying to control but McMasters is having none of it.
McMasters seems to have recovered his senses.
McMasters squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Equinox trying to control but he's not successful this time.
McMasters is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

McMasters somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McMasters tries a head kick but it misses.
McMasters lands with a slapping head kick.
Equinox looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
McMasters wants to clinch.
McMasters slips a jab and a cross from Equinox.
Equinox wants to clinch.
No joy there for Equinox, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Oooh a lovely combination from Equinox sends McMasters down but not out. Equinox dives into side control looking to finish.


That has opened up Mickey McMasters's cut even more.
Equinox is looking to take a break and control but McMasters is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Equinox dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Mickey McMasters's cut.
That's time! Equinox's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


McMasters tries to move into range but Equinox moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
McMasters fails to land with a series of punches.
McMasters throws a half hearted mid kick.
McMasters ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
McMasters throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Equinox's head.

McMasters tries to keep at a distance but Equinox has taken the fight into the clinch.

McMasters breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McMasters clinches but Equinox breaks the clinch
and Equinox counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Equinox throws a hook but McMasters avoids it easily.
John Equinox is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Equinox cracks McMasters with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends McMasters tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Equinox pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! McMasters is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Equinox!
