Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Danial Frank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mladen Grdovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grdovic has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Danial Frank has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Danial Frank!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mladen Grdovic!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Frank.
Grdovic looks winded!
Frank avoids the head kick by Grdovic.
Grdovic stuffs the takedown.
Grdovic unleashes a big counter combination but Frank bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Danial Frank seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Frank shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Grdovic napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Frank slows the pace down.
Frank will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Frank stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Grdovic flicks out a counter leg kick but Frank steps away.

Frank lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Grdovic circles away quickly and effectively.

Frank manages to break the clinch.
Frank looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Frank stalks Grdovic and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Grdovic's face. Grdovic staggers backwards, shaken.
Mladen Grdovic is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Frank throws a series of punches but Grdovic moves out of range.

Frank drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Frank got a little sloppy there for a moment and Grdovic has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Frank has managed to get both his arms back between Grdovic's legs - danger averted.
Frank has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Frank stays in close to Grdovic's body and controls the position.

Frank gets to his feet. Grdovic looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Frank closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Frank moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grdovic tries to buck Frank off but Frank is having none of it.

Frank slows the pace down.

Frank tries for a kimura but Grdovic is defending well.
Grdovic tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Frank wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Frank decides to stand back up.
Frank lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Frank fails with a takedown attempt.
Frank shoots for a takedown but Grdovic saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Grdovic is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Frank takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Frank shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Grdovic sprawls well. Grdovic wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Frank gets slowly back to his feet.
Grdovic unleashes a big counter combination but Frank bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Grdovic misses with a double jab.
Frank closes the distance and clinches up with Grdovic, looking for a takedown. Frank pushes Grdovic against the cage but Grdovic circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Frank is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Grdovic can do to turn this around?

Frank seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Frank drops back looking for a leg! Grdovic is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Grdovic manages to kick Frank off! Frank jumps back into Grdovic's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Frank really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Grdovic looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Frank knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Grdovic on the ground.

Frank darts in looking for a takedown but Grdovic gets double underhooks and turns Frank into the cage.

Frank seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Mladen Grdovic seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Frank misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Grdovic.
Grdovic loads up on a big right hand but Frank slips the punch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mladen Grdovic showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Frank ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Grdovic is trying to break the clinch but Frank is controlling him.

Frank shoots in and drives through. Grdovic sprawls well.
Frank pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Grdovic back to the cage. Frank follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Grdovic follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Frank shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Grdovic manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Danial Frank overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Grdovic working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Frank doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Frank manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Grdovic has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Frank can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Frank controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Grdovic is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Frank is aware though and is defending well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Frank is stalling in the full guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Frank has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Frank throws a series of punches but Grdovic avoids them all with ease.
Grdovic throws out a counter right but Frank avoids it with no problem.
Horrible takedown attempt by Frank or perhaps it was just good defense by Grdovic, which made it look bad.

Frank looks to land a combination but Grdovic avoids it well.

Frank tries to counter with a takedown but Grdovic is quick to defend against it.

Grdovic throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Frank.
Frank seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Grdovic will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Frank swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Frank dodges the punch combination from Grdovic.
Grdovic throws a head kick but Frank moves out of range.
Frank drops down looking for a counter takedown but Grdovic sprawls and moves away.

Grdovic is pushing Frank's head away, looking to escape. Frank manages to hold on to the position though.

Grdovic keeps trying to improve his position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Frank in side control, just content to control the action for now.
