Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Newheart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stuart Redman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stuart Redman will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kyle Newheart!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Stuart Redman!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newheart moves in looking to clinch but Redman pushes him off.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Redman lands with a cross.


It looks like Kyle Newheart has been cut.
Newheart tries to close the distance and clinch but Redman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Newheart avoids the body shot from Redman.
Redman missing with a left hand there. Newheart was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Redman fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Newheart looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Redman connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Newheart tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Redman paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Redman feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Newheart sprawling to the canvas! Newheart rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Redman finish him?!


Kyle Newheart's cut is getting worse.
Redman throws a right hand that Newheart ducks under and follows up with a left that Newheart also avoids with ease.

Newheart has closed the distance and engaged Redman in a clinch.
Redman lands with a short punch from the clinch.


Kyle Newheart's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Newheart has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Redman uses from the top position.
Redman trying to control the position from guard on top but Newheart is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Newheart looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Redman is pushing down on Newheart's leg trying to pass to half guard. Newheart is fighting to maintain full guard but Redman has managed to sneak the leg through.
Redman wants to free his trapped foot but Newheart is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Redman is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Newheart!

Redman wants to finish this one by submission but Newheart is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Redman.

Redman is working for a guillotine from mount but Newheart frees his head quite easily.
Newheart in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Newheart is looking to improve his position but Redman isn't that keen on the idea.
Newheart avoids a series of strikes thrown by Redman.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Newheart keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Redman wants to control the pace but Newheart is squirming around nicely.

Redman has control of Newheart's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Newheart regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Redman stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Redman looks gassed!

Newheart tries to close the distance and clinch but Redman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Newheart looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Newheart tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Redman doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Redman misses with a short punch on the inside.
Redman throws a head punch that misses.

Newheart manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Redman trying to control the position from guard on top but Newheart is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Redman drops back looking for a leg! Newheart is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Newheart manages to kick Redman off! Redman jumps back into Newheart's guard.
Redman wants to get up but he can't break Newheart's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Newheart looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Newheart had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Redman is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Newheart Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Redman's back instead.

Redman won't enjoy being in this position. Newheart looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Redman is tapping - it's over boys! Newheart picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kyle Newheart!
