PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brad Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Weller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brad Evans is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brad Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Weller!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Skip Squint and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Evans drives through and clinches with Weller against the cage.
Weller looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Evans jumps guard.
Evans lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Weller keeping full guard, as Evans tries to pass.
Evans is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Weller trying to keep a closed guard but Evans is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Evans slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Evans wanted to stand there but Weller had control of the position.
Evans is stalling in the full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Evans shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Weller manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Evans throwing strikes from guard but Weller blocks nicely.
Evans is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Evans is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Weller is looking to sweep but instead, Evans has passed into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Evans throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Evans lands strikes from half guard.
Evans thows a huge punch but Weller dodges it nicely.

Evans is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Weller defends it well.
Evans wants to pass the guard but Weller is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Well, if Evans is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Evans works his foot free and advances to mount.
Weller slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Weller is trying to maintain the position but Evans is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brad Evans dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Evans shoots in for a double leg but Weller sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Weller dives in for a single leg takedown but Evans sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Evans shoots in but no luck this time.
Evans changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Weller tries to avoid it but Evans manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Weller to the ground. Weller escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brad Evans. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Evans feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Weller throws his legs up looking for a submission but Evans uses it to pass to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Evans has hold of Weller's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Weller tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Evans cranks the arm and Weller screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Weller, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Brad Evans!
