PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Django (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kid Kulafu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Django!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kid Kulafu!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Django lands with a hook. Kulafu tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Django stuns Kulafu with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Django connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kulafu. Kulafu circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Kulafu looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Django!
Django takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Kulafu looks up at the clock and then as Django takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kulafu smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Kulafu is trying to move to mount but Django reverses beautifully and ends up in Kulafu's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kulafu is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kulafu bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Django's guard.

Kulafu is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Kulafu drops back, looking for a kneebar! Django looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Django looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Django!

Django trying to control the position but Kulafu is working away.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kulafu can do anything to dispel that myth.

Django wants to stand up but Kulafu has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Kulafu wants to improve his position but Django is controlling well.
Django will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Kulafu is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Django's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Django's back!
Django has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Kulafu.

Kulafu is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Django defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kulafu throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kid Kulafu dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Kulafu manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Django on his heels. He'll look to pass Django's guard now, I'm sure.

Kulafu throws a strike but Django rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Kulafu looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Django has picked Kulafu up and slammed him! Kulafu can't keep hold of the triangle and Django manages to pass to side control!

Kulafu is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Django is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Django is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.

Kulafu is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Django pulls his head out easily.
Kulafu manages to get to full guard.

Kulafu escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Django gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kulafu is looking to get to half guard.
Kulafu keeps trying to improve his position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kulafu is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kulafu is still trying to improve position.
Django doesn't have the hooks in and Kulafu manages to turn into his guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Kulafu. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Kulafu has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kid Kulafu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Kulafu closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Django did well to prevent Kulafu getting side control.
Kulafu wants to advance to full mount but Django doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kulafu accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kulafu sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Django's guard.

Kulafu is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Django is just riding it out for now. Kulafu eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kulafu not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Kulafu is looking for a kimura but Django is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kulafu to get the leverage.

Django has hold of Kulafu's hands but Kulafu slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Kid Kulafu comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kulafu winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
