With a record of 17 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Guto Silveira!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Avila decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

We've been hearing good reports from Avila's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Avila dives in and grabs Silveira's left leg, looking for a takedown. Silveira pushes down on Avila's head and hops out.
A little jabbing left from Silveira on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Guto Silveira is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Avila shoots in looking for a takedown. Silveira tries to sprawl out of it but Avila keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silveira manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Silveira manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Avila keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Silveira breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Avila counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Avila content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Gio Avila overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Avila postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Silveira is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Avila, into his guard.


Silveira is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Avila has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Silveira is looking to defend but Avila has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Silveira! Avila pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Silveira taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Gio Avila!
A very excited looking Gio Avila made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
