Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ron Schneider!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Castillo!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schneider shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Castillo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Castillo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Castillo throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Schneider escapes and throws Castillo's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Schneider postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Schneider is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Schneider is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Castillo to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Schneider closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Schneider looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Schneider is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Castillo can do to turn this around?
